St George’s Day - 23rd April - remember we hope to
see everybody there - remember this is the one day of the
year that we can show the people of Lincoln and surrounding
areas what Scouting is all about. Please also remember we are
hoping to see EVERYONE wearing lovely smart “new”
uniform !!
Can we remind all GSLs to provide 2 non-uniformed
marshals to assist with the smooth running of the parade.
These marshals will need to be briefed at the Saturday
evening rehearsal (6.30) at the cathedral west door

DISTRICT CAMP
Well what are you waiting for !?!?!!?!
Everything is being prepared for the best camp the District has seen since the last one. The plot has been finalised and made much easier to follow than some of the previous years, so the inscrutable
participants can see at a glance what they are doing, and where they should be at any one time
There are lots of activities for them to get involved in, and even some evening entertainment e.g.
karate club demo’s, cinema screenings to challenge the Odeon with, and inter sub-camp challenges to
attempt. So no one can find themselves at a loose end at any time during the weekend
Judy is sitting by her phone and laying by her post box just waiting for your bookings, so don’t
disappoint her and have her being too uncomfortable sat on the floor in the draughty hallway, get your
bookings in as soon as possible, and turn Sudbrooke into the oriental capital of the western world by
filling in the booking form here in Lads !!!!!
Were you there ?
The Scouts Association are seeking to make contact with those young and old who joined together in
1957, whether they were day visitors or those who stayed for the duration, and it's not just people
they are trying to trace. They are also appealing to families of those who attended who may have
badges, books or souvenirs for a special exhibition at the Jamboree site at Chelmsford, Hylands Park
The 1957 event, the 9th World Jamboree celebrated not only the Golden Jubilee of the Brownsea Island
Camp but also the centenary of the birth of Scouting's Founder, Lord Robert Baden-Powell. Because
of the double celebration, it was decided that a combined Jamboree, Scouters' Indaba and Rover Moot
would be held. The venue chosen was Sutton Park - a beautiful natural park of 2,400 acres, close to
Birmingham
Some 33,000 Scouts from 90 countries camped for 12 days in weather which ranged from a heat-wave
to a storm which flooded parts of the huge camp site. Many thousands more took the opportunity to
camp in the surrounding countryside (reproduced courtesy of www.world.scouting2007.org)

everything is back to normal
Have you checked out
www.scoutbase.org.uk lately ?
They’ve done a lot of work on it
and made it really user-friendly. It also now links
far better with www.scouts.org.uk so there is no
more need to keep looking at both of them
separately for information
