Training matters !!!

My how time goes by ! We have just completed another block of training, it must be all the fun we have and the really nice leaders attending which makes the time pass so quickly. May I take this opportunity to thank all the leaders, plus Linda and Elaine for helping me while I have been learning the ropes of training; many of you have given me words of encouragement which have meant a lot to me

We are now ready to start the next block of training. If you haven't done your training yet and think it might be boring just speak to any leaders who have been in the last block. I'm sure they can put you straight, it’s far from boring, you might even have a laugh as we aim to make it fun but informative

If anyone requires any further information about training, speak to your training advisor or Linda.

The next block of training will all be at Waddington Scout HQ. Many thanks to Stan for the use of his HQ
Module 3 Tuesday 23rd May starts 7.30 pm
Module 5-6-7 Sunday 4th June 10am to 5pm
Module 8-9-11 Saturday 10th June 10am to 5pm
Module 12-13-14 Saturday 24th June 10am to 5pm
Module 15-18-19 Sunday 25th June 10am to 5pm

Please note that on module 18 you will need to bring with you something to teach other people. This is a practical lesson and it doesn’t have to be anything connected with Scouting. Examples of past things have been; wiring a plug, taking finger prints, chopping onions, making a holly wreath, how to take cuttings, making a frisbee, face painting and the training team showed how to skip ! (Linda and Elaine’s black eyes are better now !!!). But if you are not sure, have a chat before that session and we can help you to think of things to do and talk you through the session. Finally, you need to book training with your training advisor. PLUS you need to pay for your training !

Spring and Summer Programme - The next Young Leader’s training sessions will be on the following dates, which are all Thursday nights, starting at 7:30 pm at the Waddington Scout Hut. Hope to see you all there

We may also be doing some practical training during District Camp, depending on how many of you are there

Badges

Please mail your requirements through to badge.secretary(at)ntlworld.com and we’ll mail you back once your badges are in ! Don’t forget, however, that for any orders exceeding £ 25 we need the money in advance before we can send the order !

The new County and District badges are now here. Anyone wanting any, money must be sent with order. The price for the badges is £1 each. There will be a 20% discount for 50 or more badges.

The copy date will ALWAYS be the 25th of each month, and the final edition will generally be available on the final day of the month (mail versions generally available a few days before, website generally around the start of the month)

@ or (at)?

Some people may be wondering why all the e-mail addresses on the Lads website have (at) in the middle instead of '@'. The reason is that both viruses and people that send spam use computers to trawl through websites such as this looking for addresses to send things to. It may be a computer virus, it may be an advert for something that people wouldn't want their children to necessarily see. As many people in the district have children we have used a trick to stop this happening. By replacing @ with (at) the computers can no longer read the e-mail address. However, human beings can still figure out what the address should be. Just swap the (at) back to @ and it'll all be OK again!
